____________ Announces Winners For The 2011 Edition of “Your’e So SoWal If…”

The collection of entries paint a vivid picture of life at the beach., the popular South Walton online magazine, recently asked readers to complete the thought, “You’re so SoWal if…”. After collecting hundreds of entries from locals and visitors, the staff and judges have picked their favorites. Although the top three came from locals, responses were received from far and wide.

The overall 2011 winner is from Jenny Dargavell who wrote her entry in reference to Sundays at Grayton Beach’s famous Red Bar, “You’re So SoWal if… church consists of giant mimosas, a cheeseburger and Dread Clampitt as your choir.”

Second runner up comes from Stacy Pritchett who wrote, “You’re So SoWal if… you consider a long distance relationship dating someone in Destin.”

Third runner up is from Susan Vallee who wryly noted, “You’re So SoWal if… all of your friends are either realtors or photographers.”

Credit is due to the panel of judges who volunteered to laugh and cry their way through all the entries and narrow them down to a few dozen of the best. The judges for 2011 include community members Kevin Boyle of Poor Truman Creative Services, Debbie Wheeler of The Walton Sun, Jamie Ray of South Walton TDC, Kelli Arnold of Alys Beach, and Renee Georgeff, SoWal Forum Moderator.

“We really appreciate all the loyal SoWal beach lovers who sent in entries,” said Kurt Lischka, Publisher. “We had a blast reading them all and are already looking forward to seeing entries for 2012.”

You can find the complete list of selected winners on the newly-redesigned, billed as “South Walton’s Beachzine.” A commemorative poster featuring the winner will be available at various locations in South Walton.
