The 3rd Annual Luminaria Run to End Domestic & Sexual Violence, presented by Shelter House, will take place on Saturday, December 7 at 4:30pm. The course for this twilight run will be lit with more than 2,000 luminaria bags, representing how Shelter House and our community partners light the way to a safer place for victims of domestic violence and sexual violence in our community.
The run begins at the Destin City Hall Annex and winds through the Indian Bayou neighborhood.
- 5K Adult: $30 in advance; $40 on site
- 5K Child (12 & under): $10
- 9K Adult: $45 in advance; $55 on site
- 9K Child (12 & under): $15
Online registration closes at midnight on Thursday, December 5. On site registration will be available at the run expo on Friday, December 6 at The Palms of Destin and on race day, Saturday, December 7, at Destin City Hall Annex.
If you want to support Shelter House but can’t make it to the Luminaria Run, be an Illuminator! For just $15, Illuminators will receive a Luminaria Run t-shirt. You can pick it up at the expo or run or we’ll mail it to you. Let your light shine!
We’re excited the Luminaria Run has grown in its third year! The biggest addition this year is a run expo. Join us on Friday, December 6 from 4pm to 8pm at The Palms of Destin. Runners, friends and family are invited to stop in for packet pick up, then stay to peruse our run expo and holiday fair. You can gather information from fitness vendors, do some holiday shopping and enter for a chance to win some great prizes!
Get Your Glow On!
This year we are adding an award for the best lit runner for this twilight race. You can purchase a Glow Pack for just $5 when you register online. We’ll also have a glow station at the race if you forget to buy these items in advance.
A Gear Check station in the Start/Finish area will be available for runners.You can drop off your pre-/post-race clothing and belongings. While you run, your gear will be held at Gear Check. Please DO NOT leave valuables, cash or jewelry in your gear bag. The event is not responsible for any lost items. Gear bags must be claimed before close of the post-run festivities on race day.
All runners are invited to join us for a post-race celebration in the parking lot of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. We’ll hand out awards, enjoy delicious hot gumbo from Bubba Gump and refuel with our signature “sweet finish” featuring s’mores, hot cocoa and more!
More Ways to Win
Like last year, we’ll be selling tickets at the run for amazing prizes! We have also added a silent auction with big prizes you’re going to want to take home. The silent auction and prize ticket sales will both be open at the pre-race expo on Friday and all day on Saturday. We’ll award all the prizes at the after party.
